  • <The little belated Photos in Japan>

  • <Cont’ Japan trip>

    1. I took the historical tram in Tokyo city, runing from inner tokyo to an old residential area of tokyo. Just like the tram on HK Island. Excellent. Small village with a lot of human element.  I just sit down somewhere and have the ‘octopus dumplings’, with two little girls reading jap comics, sitting next to me.  In front of me was the old tram, and the whole pic was rather ‘tokyo story’. If you don’t have time to travel to Kyoto or other cities of Jap to taste the ‘historical side’ of Jap, try this tram, running from Waseda to something like ‘Three xxx Station’.

    2. I am supposed to rest my legs in this jap trip, though at the beginning i knew it’s rather difficult.  The reasons were that I sprained my knee some four months ago, and didn’t recover to the previous healthy level.  I recovered partly, but hurt it again during my Australia visit – I simply walked from the China Town, to the Darling Harbour, and finally to the Rock near Opera house.  In case you didn’t know, my wild guess is the distance is close to a full Nathan road on the Kowloon side, or King’s road on the HK Island site.  After three days in Jap, of course, I knew my purpose is doomed to fail. Today when i walked, my whole right leg was freaking painful, while i am feeling very good (I recalled the cult leader of hk originals said something abt phys. and psy. pain and happiness).

    3. I never knew HK people can speak english (so poorly), until i came here.  When i was so fortunate to get a good place sitting and waiting for the night parade in disneyland, a mother and her lovely son (aged around 8) came.  It was very crowded and they have to stand. The lovely son was moving here and there, drilling into ideal place that could later see the parade clearly.  OK, fine.  When he was standing next to me, i found that my Donald Duck stuff (there is nothing except Donald Duck.  So, instead of using Disneyland stuff, i use Donald Duck stuff) was blocking the little corridor between the bench i am sitting and the next.  I moved the stuff below the bench and the lovely son, in less than 0.5 second, moved into the space. OK, fine.  This was exactly what i wanted – squeeze some valuable place, ideally.  The lovely son and his mum started chatting in cantonese.  Nothing special.

Right before the parade started, her mother looked around – i couldn’t understand why – and then asked her lovely son in English :

    ‘Is it ok?’ in English

The son in Cantonese : ‘Mother, i cannot see clearly’.

    ‘Is it ok?’ in English

The son in Cantonese : I cannot see clearly’.

    Such conversation repated thrice.

Bitch.  Don’t show up your rubbish English in front of Jap of which over 99% do not even A-Z. When i was just about the tell her lovely son, in cantonese, to revert in English, Donald Duck appeared in the parade. Otherwise Wong Fai Hong will come out and say ‘Chinese doesn’t punch Chinese’ in Disneyland Tokyo.

I recall the story of ‘Let me cut into piece’ during my visit in Lan Fong Yuen of Central a year ago.

    4.  I visited the Roppongi Hill yesterday.  Excellent.  But i didn’t expect this is gonna happen in HK, though i know this is exactly what WKCD is gonna to learn from.  I tried the Fried Pork shop on the 5/F, in which there is a waitress who can speak mandarin (her surname was Chan on her name tag). Extremely excellent Pork.  Unlimited refill for rice and soup, costing $80 per head.  The Tokyo City View on 52/F worth its costs.  From there you could even watch the fireworks in other parts of Tokyo. Insane.

  • <Why do you have to provoke me?>

I could recall two or three months ago, i wrote something about male’s hell.  That’s not the end probably.

Who cares the bag is white, black, purple or even rainbow?

Who cares it is agnes b, agnes c or agnes z?

My trip is ruined by a series of stupid, irrelevant questions.

  • <Yeah yeah yeah>

    1. I meet Toshiki, my jap buddy today.

    2. Went to the Great Wheel Car, so freaking romantic.

    3. Tried ToFu meal with Toshiki

    4. We chatted a lot.

  • <Seventh Day in Japan>

    1. I have roughly calculated that for the remaining days, my gf and i will have yen4000 to spend each day, covering transport, travel and other expenditure.

    2. I have watched the Annual firework in ZinChao Temple (Ramen Temple), lasting for 1.5 hr. Excellent, and the most touching firework i have ever watched. 1,000,000 million firework in the air, with many jap guys and gals wearing their traditional dresses. Last year there were 1,000,000 people watching this event in the nearby area. This year i suspect the figure will exceed. Last time i saw so many people in the st. was the 71 march in 2003.

    3. I cannot stop appraising the efficiency of Jap’s railway system.  Even with 1 m people sucking into three railways, the trains are only 60% full on average, and people don’t have to wait too long to get away from there.

    4. Jap people are very polite.  Very professional.

    5. Today is the end of my 7-day JR pass, costing 28300 yen (around HK$2000).  Again, i roughly calculated that with travelling to kyoto, it worths alot.

  • <First six days in Japan>

    1. Girls in Tokyo are polarising – there are beautiful and ugly gals, but not in between them. The normal distribution of girls in terms of degree of beauty becomes concentrated on the two ends.  But the average degree of beautiful rose a little bit (the change in distribution is not symmetric). Many look like Ayu (Bun-kee-bu) and AV girls.

    2. Beautiful girls are very tall – 5-7, 5-8. So if you are of the average size of HK guys, don’t expect to date a pretty gal right here.

    3. I saw Andy Lau in the Japan Airport. Extremely handsome and look very young (20 something). Similing all the time, and when being asked whether want to use the VIP channel, he refused (though i suspect this was due to the fact that he was on the route for normal guys like me). Anyway, a real star.

    4. As expected, my trip is flooded by Muji, Uniqlo, and more importantly, Donald Duck. I have visited 5 Muji stores in the first 2 days, 6 Uniqlo and infinite tonnes of Donald Duck in the first few days. I so hate Muji and Donald Duck now.

    5. Some numbers : As expected, folloing 5, we spend 90% of our money in the first 20% of our trip in terms of duration. We eat Mcdonalds, Beef-rice and other cheap food. I think of something about economics on wage and prices in tokyo versus HK, and some interesting implications. ….. ok… stop.  BTW, watami in HK is 100% the taste in Japan.  And i lost my legs in the first days in Shinsuku, Disneyland and Kyoto.

    6. The sun burnt my back and hands in Kyoto, a nice city. Even in such a city famous for sight seeing, we bought agnes-b, muji (!!!!) and many other stuff.  Insanity is increasing.

    7. Luggage is around 100kg now, i guess. I suggest my gf to go home on foot so that i can take the luggage back to hk

    8. I don’t feel like in Japan, though people are speaking japanese to me ALL THE TIME. I suspect HK is so similar to Japan that I don’t feel like in Japan.

    9. The average english speaking skill in Kyoto is much better than in Tokyo.

  • <Pandora’s Paradox>

(謝過 ami_aewws)

  • <10%>

When you plan to visit Japan in about two month time, the Yen goes up to something like Y111/US$.

Half a year ago it was still Y120/US$. This means a 10% appreciation of Yen or a 10% reduction in my purchasing power in Japan.

Given my girlfriend’s purchase in Japan will be fixed in Japanese Yen, in order to compensate her 10% loss, in total I will lose 20% of my purchasing power.

    F.U.C.K.

Fortunately and unfortunately, I did some pesudo-hedging when the Yen was 117 or 118. At the cost of interest income, I hedges around 10% of my planned budget.

    What a 10%.
